A traditional sweet dish prepared in south India. Very Popular in “ponnu pakra function“(seeing the girl at her place), usually served with bajji (spicy dish) and sojji (sweet dish). Am very happy to share this recipe…! Sojji can be made in many forms..! Here am presenting the one which is popular in Madurai..! Hope you all will like it…!
1 Cup Maida/All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup Chapathi Flour/Wheat Flour
1 Cup Ravai/Rawa/Semolina/Suji
2 tbs. Rice Flour
½ tsp. Baking Soda
1 Cup Sugar
1 tsp. Salt
1 and ½ Water
½ tsp. Cardamom
2 to 3 tbs. Cashew Nuts
2 to 3 tbs. Raisins
1 Full-Ripe Banana
Oil (For Deep Fry)
- Add all the ingredients in a mixing bowl, and mix well until it gets nice idli batter consistency.
- Then drop them slowly into the oil and fry them until it turns into nice golden brown.
- Using medium size spoon to get the same size sojji.
- Serve hot with Tea/ coffee and Enjoy.

Instead of banana, you can also use 1 large Egg/ 1 Egg and 1 Banana.
