Chapathi Dough (Using Bread machine):

Similar to the common pita, the Indian Chapathi is a bread made of whole wheat flour. It is usually served with a curry, but it is very versatile and can be used just like regular toast or as a side to many dishes. You can make your own Chapathi at home in less than an hour. Here am going to show you how to make chapathi dough using bread machine. If you really want to make traditional Chapathi then use your hands to mix the ingredients together because your hands will work better than any other mixing tools. But for many reasons you may don’t want to use your hands; in that case you can use the bread machine or any food processor to make Chapathi dough. Any way the chapathi will be tasty :) .

Ingredients:

1 cup Water

2 cup and 2 tbs. Wheat Flour (add more if needed)

2 tsp. Oil

Salt to taste

Steps:

  1. First in the bread machine add all the ingredients and then choose the dough option and once done cover the dough with cling wrap or with any wet cloth and let it sit for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  2. If you want to make Chapathi using hands then; add all the ingredients into the mixing bowl and press gently using hands; add water little by little; once it turns into dough consistency then cover it with cling wrap or wet cloth; let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes.
  3. Then start making chapathi or poori.

Tips:

  • If you are going to use your hands to make dough; then press harder until the dough is fine and smooth.
